Co-Chair
Drive Clean Santa Monica
Director/Producer
Santa Monica City Councilman, ret.

Kelly-Richard Olsen knows the challenge of driving an EV while relying entirely on public chargers. Kelly has been driving a Nissan LEAF for over four years while living in a Santa Monica apartment building where he has no parking and therefor no ability to charge his EV at home.

Knowing that the majority of Santa Monica residents in this situation would not go through the hardships he has, Kelly recently formed Drive Clean Santa Monica, a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to making it easier for Santa Monica residents who live in multi-family buildings and no ability to charge an EV make the transition from gas vehicles to clean zero emission vehicles.

Kelly has a long history of environmental activism and government involvement.

He served eight years in public office as a Santa Monica City Councilman and a Planning Commissioner, serving two terms as the Chairman of the Planning Commission.

During his years as a legislator, Kelly initiated numerous environmental programs, including Santa Monica's Alternative Fueled Vehicle Policy, which has resulted in Santa Monica being a recognized leader in EV programs and infrastructure.

Kelly has been in the entertainment business since the age of 15. At the age of 16 he co-produced a concert at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, making him the youngest person to have ever produced an event at this historic venue.

During his career, he has worked on numerous films, television shows and theatrical productions and has also produced and directed many short films about electric vehicles and the people who drive them. Kelly is a member of the Producers Guild of America and served as an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Guild.

Kelly has just completed a feature length documentary about the co-founder of Plug In America, Paul Scott, titled, My Lunch With Obama.
